Abstract: Cellulose micro/nano fibrils generated from biomass are relative new reinforcing materials for polymer composites, which have potential lightweight and high strength and are renewable. In the present study, the preparation method of extracting cellulose micro/nano fibrils from wood was introduced. After successful disintegration, the morphological characteristics of the wood fibers, purified cellulose fibers, cellulose fibers activated by ultrasonic-wave and cellulose micro/nano fibrils after homogenization treatment, were compared by visual examination and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that cellulose micro/nano fibrils have been efficiently extracted from wood, which have great potential in the application areas of papermaking, bio-nanocomposites, food, cosmetics/skin cream, medical/pharmaceutical, and so on.

Abstract: In this paper, the hydrophobic nano-calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was prepared by organic matter (the bolaform surfactant Disodium Sulfodehydroabietate as template) modifying surface structure of calcium carbonate (made by anhydrous sodium carbonate and anhydrous calcium chloride) at 40°C for 2h. The prepared hydrophobic nano-CaCO3 was characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and. The nano-CaCO3 with mean particle size of 64.4 nm was obtained in the range of 0.5~1.5µm by calculation. The contact angle of nano-CaCO3 with liquid solid was 117.49°. The hydrophobic property become stronger.

Abstract: The volatile components of essential oils of fresh aerial parts from horseweed (Conyza canadensis) collected in October with hydrodistillation and steam distillation, respectively, were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that limonene, β-pinene, trans-α-bergamotene, cis-β-ocimene, β-myrcene, germacrene D, 1,3,8-p-menthatriene, caryophyllene, (E)-β-farnesene, (Z)-β-farnesene, α-curcumene, caryophyllene oxide were the common volatile components in the essential oils between hydrodistillation and steam distillation. High limonene content (68.87%) was in the essential oil with hydrodistillation. Limonene or other terpenoids has the potential to develop as the biomimetic synthesis template for environmentally-friendly herbicide.
