Abstract: Bioreactor technology is a branched research area of tissue engineering. Dynamic culture environment mimicking in vivo pulsatile conditions could be achieved by bioreactor otherwise might not through static cultures. In this paper, we present a new type of pulse bioreactor which can provide arbitrary and easily adjustable circulatory flow conditions of 0 - 0.2 MPa pressure. The pulse amplitude range was 0 - 7%. The pulse frequency can be adjusted between 0 and 80 times/min. In addition, the new type of pulse bioreactor can be sterilized and dismantled easily. This bioreactor has been used in dynamic culture of assembled adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) and shown promise in tissue engineering.

Abstract: A soluble intralumenal stent for vascular anastomosis was prepared from glucose, Dextran-40 and heparin. The solubility of the stent was tested in vitro and in vivo. Animal tests were carried out with femoral arteries of rabbits. In comparison with the literature reported surgar and poly(ethylene glycol, PEG) stents, shorter dissolving time and higher patency (or survival) rate were obtained. Cell culture experiments suggested that the heparin containing glucose and Dextran-40 stent (H-sugar) had no irritation and toxicity to the endothelia cells. No thrombosis was observed from the in vivo tests in 2 months after the anastomosis. Such a heparin containing sugar stent is a promising candidate for fast sutureless anastomosis of vessels in non-trauma surgery.

Abstract: Microstructure of nickel deposit ,which was prepared with pulse-plating technology on depleted uranium surface, has been studied by X-ray diffractometry(XRD),Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results indicate that the crystallographic structure of the deposit is face centered cubic; the deposit has a highly preferred orientation of (200), the relative orientation density of (200) is 3.44; the average grain size is about 45.5nm. The deposit is fine and has multi-crystal nature as well as crystallographic defects as dislocation, stacking and twin. It’s feasible to prepare nanocrystalline nickel deposit on depleted uranium surface with pulse plating technology.
