Abstract: A novel radial telescopic tire building drum is proposed to meet the radial tire production requirements. After the discussion of the mechanical structure and transmission principle of this mechanism, the kinematics equations together with the formulas of contraction ratio and pressure angle are established. In order to optimize the characteristics of force-transfer, when taking the interference condition into consideration, a kinematics design method of this novel radial telescopic building drum is proposed, which can obtain the minimal value of mechanism maximum pressure angle and satisfy the demand of contraction ratio. The most important feature of this building drum is that the external shell is driven by the internal shell. Designer can derivative more design schemes by applying this transmission principle.

Abstract: Double crank indexing cam mechanism is a coaxial layout of the new sub-degree institutions. In comparison with the conventional indexing cam mechanism, the double crank indexing cam mechanism has a more compact structure due to the coaxial input/output arrangement, and enables more stops to be produced at the same input speed. This paper introduces a dynamic model of the cam system by taking this mechanism as research object, and makes systematic analysis about the constrained forces of the new mechanism. On that basis, the effectiveness of the approach is validated by the examples. The results of the study provide important theoretical foundation for the working of this new mechanism.

Abstract: This paper proposes a method of building the design tree with stratified constraints and modifications for the machine design with pre-defined technological process. The design method displays the design process in a tree structure with overall open yet local convergent characteristics. It is applied to develop an innovative, a comprehensive, and practical design through design detailing, integrative constraints and interventions, and real-time evaluations. As an example the design of the tire-building drum is given.

Abstract: The study concentrated on a radial telescopic-type tire building drum, analyzed the frameworks and working principle. Make motion analysis and dynamic analysis for the frameworks, research the relations of speed, acceleration between them, and analysis the mechanical efficiency of them. Determine the main parameters that affect the motion and force transmission characteristics of the mechanism. On this basis, we optimize the parameters and make of general guidelines for preferences and design. Using the software SolidWorks to make three-dimensional entity modeling, assembling and motion simulation. By the check analysis of the software, improve and optimize the design.

Abstract: According to the characteristics of radial tire technological process, a new type of tire building drum was proposed. The kinematics analysis was carried out based on the systematical study on the structure and working principle of this mechanism. And on this basis, taking passenger car tire for example, the three-dimensional solid model of the tire building drum was established, and the kinetic simulation was performed by Solidworks software. The result of simulation shows that the tire building drum proposed, with inside-outside alternating supporting shells moving smoothly, is of simple construction and can realize a great radial expansion ratio, and improve the quality and efficiency of tire building and unloading. This study can also provide reference for the innovative design of new tire building drum.
