Abstract: The development of modern advanced manufacturing technology greatly relies on the CAD / CAM technology. Many pieces of computer software with CAD/CAM function have been developed rapidly in recent years. Unigraphics (UG) is one of the outstanding representatives. It has a powerful design and CNC programming function, and CAD/CAM seamless connectivity. As an application example, a mouse model part which has complex surface was designed and trial-manufactured with CNC machine. First, the 3D model of the part was created in the modeling module of UG software. Then, the process scheme was developed after analyzing. In the manufacturing module of UG software, the NC machining parameters were set according to the processing requirements, the tool paths were generated, edited and checked, and the NC codes were generated by post processing. And then, the NC machining was simulated in YULONG software. Finally, the part was manufactured in a 3-axis CNC milling machine. It has desirable shape and high accuracy. The results show that UG has a perfect CAD/CAM function. The CAD/CAM technology based on UG makes the NC machining of complex surface part very convenient. It improves the efficiency of design and machining, shortens the manufacturing cycle, and reduces the cost, which reflects the importance of the CAD/CAM software in NC machining. The method described in this paper can provide valuable reference for processing similar parts, and it is also useful for related study.

Abstract: The article discusses the issue of on-line learning for Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. This method of education was designed within the project KEGA: Realisation of on-line classroom for dynamic education of secondary technical school and university students focused on design and manufacturing of freeform surfaces. The main objective of this method of teaching is improving parent ́s faculty cooperation with detaches workplaces and increasing of the interest of secondary school students about studying on the college with technical orientation.

Abstract: This paper presents a method to simultaneously increase the accuracy and decrease the calculation time for complex tool path programming in multi-axis machining centers. Examples of complex parts requiring such complex tool paths include various kinds of turbine blades, pump-forcing augers, teeth surfaces, etc. It explains the creation of topological structures on the basis of analytical spline curves with floating range definitions. The method for tool path calculation accommodates the specific requirements for multi-axis milling. The algorithms developed are the foundation for the CAD/CAM software that allows for NC programming and machining on 5-axis centers employing any design model. Industrial tests reveal a 70-80% reduction of NC programming time of parts with complex surfaces, reduced machining time of approximately 40-50% using basic high-speed cutting methods and custom-made tools. The advanced methods of NC programming result in substantially increasing machining accuracy.

Abstract: With high precision special rotary tool is widely used in automotive, mold, aerospace, machinery, electronics and other fields, the demand of manufacturing for such type and quantity of cutting tool is more and more big, lead to the demand for multi-axis CNC tool grinder which provides efficient, high quality production support for it also increasing. In terms of hardware and software multi-axis CNC tool grinder in developed countries are relatively mature, but domestic did not have enough for this research, especially for development of CNC tool grinding machine operation software system, and rarely reference data. In view of the domestic manufacturer in urgent need of independent research and development of CNC tool grinder, this article will research tool grinding automatic programming and simulation technology of CNC tool grinding machine operation software system, through analyzing the four main steps of NC grinding four-blade overall end milling cutter, parametric programming with MATLAB, and grinding trajectory data in the form of mixed programming of MATLAB and VC+ + will be post processed into NC programs, then simulation in VERICUT virtual machine tool, finally the actual grinding out overall end milling cutter.

Abstract: A complex part, which has curved surface overall, is trial-manufactured with CNC machine. The NC machining process and technology of this full-surface part are studied in this paper. First, the 3D model of the part is created in the modeling module of UG system. Then, process analysis and scheme are developed. As the part has an irregular shape and the entire surface is to be NC machined, there are many difficulties during processing. The optimized process plan is determined. In the manufacturing module of UG system, the NC machining parameters are set according to the processing requirements, the tool paths are generated, edited and checked, and the NC code is generated by post processing. Finally, the part is manufactured using a 3-axis CNC milling machine with the NC programs. It has desirable shape and high accuracy. The result shows that the NC process is reasonable and efficient. CAD/CAM integration technology is applied successfully in this example. The methodology and technology introduced in this paper can provide valuable reference for processing similar parts, and it is also useful for correlational study.

Abstract: For unequal diameter machining cylindrical cam profile based on double envelope principle, the practical profile equation and the profile machined by tool equation were given. The purpose of this study is explore new unequal diameter machining cylindrical cam method in the range of allowable error. According to the practical profile equation, the unequal diameter machining profile of cylindrical cam based on double envelope principle experiment were carried out. Considering the problem of accurate machining, three different diameter tool is used in the same cylindrical cam blank . And then, we used the software - Manufacturing Engineer XP to Program unequal diameter machining cylindrical cam Surface processing. The last, cylindrical cam surface was processed by CNC machining center.

Abstract: Post processing is to change the cutter location files into each axis motion files according to the structures of machine movements and control instruction formats. The case study of 5-axis double rotary table of the CNC machine is researched in this paper. The machine structure and the machine kinematics are analyzed to get the coordinate transformation matrixes, then specified post processing procedures of this machine are developed, the system achieves good effects in practical application.

Abstract: Worm cam mechanism is a common indexing mechanism which is widely used in automatic machinery. Because of its high transmission precision requirements, the mechanism has high demands on the cylinder cam. The machining methods of cylinder cam are unique and the methods of special machine tool and NC machining are the two methods that general adopted in the machining of it. In this paper, the method of CNC Programming which is used for machining cylinder cam in 5-axeses high speed DMU 70eVolution Machining Center is introduced. The machining principle of cylinder cam has been studied, and the mathematical model for CNC Programming has also been worked out. The automated compensation of cutting tool’s radius is used in this field for the first time.
