Abstract: In the work, magnetization-induced second-harmonic generation (MSHG) effect has been appliedto investigate the magnetization distribution changes, induced by ion implantation into thethin surface layer of garnet film. The studies were performed on the (111)-orientedepitaxial garnet film (YSmLuCa)$_3$(FeGa)$_5$O$_{12}$ implanted with $1.5\times10^{16}$~cm$^{-2}$dose of H$_2^+$ ions at $60$~keV energy. The measurements of the MSHG effectwere performed as a function of amplitude of perpendicular external magnetic field. The observed complex field dependencesof the remagnetization processes for the implanted garnet film studied were described in theframe of a phenomenological model developed. The model of the MSHG effect allows to performdecomposition of measured dependences on separate contributions originating from magnetizationcomponents related to implanted and unimplanted film volumes.

Abstract: The influence of most physical factors on the revelation ability of magneto-optic eddy current defectoscopy of linear defects in metallic objects is investigated. Uniaxial anisotropy multi-component Bi-substituted garnet film is used as the sensor element. The efficiency of visualization depends on frequency and amplitude of the inducer’s electric current and the biasing magnetic field. Optimal values of these parameters are obtained. It is shown that the alternative magnetic field exerts the most influence on the eddy current magneto-optic image.

Abstract: High coercive garnet-ferrite films are being synthesized for thermo-magnetic recording, for example, by focused laser beams. These films can be characterized by a couple of parameters very suitable for recording reconfigurable magnetic atomic traps whose geometry is visible. On the other hand, slightly other films can be used for contact printing of high density and weak residual magnetization records in criminalistics. Both types are investigated experimentally in this work.
