Abstract: With the rapid development of urbanization in China, an effective and quick approach usedto identify changes in basic farmland becomes more and more important in land use resource managementfield. While a variety of change detection approaches using multi-temporal satellite image havebeen reported, few approaches using GIS data of land use planning and single-temporal high spatialresolution satellite image have been reported. This paper proposes an object-based basic farmlandchange detection approach using single-temporal high spatial resolution satellite image and GIS dataof land use planning. Compared with the pixel-based change detection approach, the object-based approachmust be more suitable for in high spatial resolution images. To test the validity of the proposedapproach, we apply it to the actual data, and primary results reveal that the proposed approach is valid.

Abstract: Based on a large number of researches, in according with the actual situation in geography and geology environment in Henan Province, this paper summed up the evaluation methods of soil erosion for Henan. Based on RUSLE mode, first of all, soil erosion model needed to get rainfall erosivity factor, soil erodibility factor, terrain factor, vegetation cover and soil and water conservation measures factor. Henan soil erosion intensity distribution was obtained according to soil erosion prediction formula In the Raster Calculator module of ARCGIS. Then to be Henan soil erosion strength grade distribution according to sl190-96 classification standard. Results show that low-level is the main soil erosion level. High-level, ultra-high-level and acute also happen, but their percentages are relative low. The high-level, ultra-high-level and acute soil erosion distribute mainly in southland region. The soil erosion situation would become clear, and provide a scientific reference for the government decision-making and provides a theoretical basis for future research.

Abstract: The effect of Chi-Chi earthquake on typhoon-triggered landslides was estimated using accuracy curves method in seismic landslide hazard model. The logistic regression model and geographic information system (GIS) are chosen to perform the seismic landslide hazard analysis. An inventory map of the landslides from SPOT images taken before and after the events was used to produce a dependent variable, which takes a value of 0 and 1 for the absence and presence of landslides. A set of independent parameters include lithology, elevation, slope gradient, slope aspect, terrain roughness, land use and Arias intensity (Ia) with topographic effect. Subsequently, the logistic regression is used to find the best fitting function to describe the relationship between occurrence or non-occurrence of landslides within an individual grid cell. The decreased effect of the earthquake was measured using accuracy curves method. It found that the effect of earthquake decreases with time. The landslide events of 2004 had little correlation with the Chi-Chi earthquake. Nevertheless, after period of 5 years, the seismic intensity from the Chi-Chi earthquake might still have affected conditions of landslides in the study area.

Abstract: To locate the fire station under a prescribed period is of strategic significance in the urban fire planning. On the .Net platform, integrate the Genetic Algorithm and Geographic Information System (GIS) via the C# language to resolve the complicated issue of the spatial site selection. The GIS spatial data will be imported to the module first. Then on the basis of both the spatial analysis feature and the network analysis feature of GIS, calculate the individual’s fitness in the process of the genetic evolution. The Conventional coding approach is generally utilized to optimize the small-scale data set. However, to meet the search requirements in the massive spatial data of GIS, the object oriented coding approach is designed in the module. It is indicated that the entire module is able to resolve the site selection issue of the urban fire station properly, which meets the quick response’s requirements.

Abstract: For a long time, planners get used to apply qualitative analysis and subjective knowledge to define urban green space system. Lacking support of quantitative analysis, the incomplete inventory will result in subjective evaluation, low pertinence. And the required depth and level for planning will not be strong enough. This study strives for introduce ecological suitability evaluation to urban green space system, derives the supporting theory, framework, and evaluation model. By using GIS, Luancheng green space system is generated based on the ecological suitability analysis. Also, this study shows that green space system planning is more operational and reliable based on ecological suitability evaluation.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a GIS-based method that combines factor analysis and cluster analysis to quantitatively classify neighborhoods type for Zhangshan City, China. First, the possible measures for neighborhood type classification are reviewed. Then, ten measures are chosen for the case study. Factor analysis is adopted to generate five major factors and cluster analysis is used to identify six neighborhood types.

Abstract: This study puts forward the framework of GIS—Scenario decision method and introduces some methods, ideas, principles and analysis process applied in regional spatial planning. Combining the GIS spatial analysis method with the scenario—planning, simulating and contrasting scenarios for regional key development zones, this study determines regional development strategies. Findings show that the GIS-SCENARIO analysis method can quantitatively analyze factors influencing the spatial distribution more accurately. Considering fully complex real situation and combined with reasonable value judgments, the GIS can provide various factors with a spatial analysis platform to contact and contrast with each other. As a strategic planning approach, it enables decision makers decide relatively reasonably in an uncertain and unpredictable situation and improves rationality in planning.

Abstract: The GIS technology provides a new mechanism and an effective method to develop Digital City, which is an important node of implementing the digital earth. In this paper, the framework of Digital City based on GIS is investigated. Through GIS service, the urban spatial data and attribute data can be accessed and integrated seamlessly to various Digital City applications. Moreover, a Digital City application is given to illustrate the key techniques based on MapObjects of ESRI and an objects-oriented developing tool, namely, Visual C++. Experiment results show the robustness and efficiency of the proposed method.

Abstract: The construction and development of rural is the basis of social harmony and stability. Suitability evaluation of Land is the early stage of land planning. At present, research on suitability evaluation in China is more focused on agricultural land and urban construction land than rural construction land. This paper take Pingyi County as an example, with the new round of land planning and site survey data, by using GIS spatial analysis function, carried out the layout suitability evaluation of rural settlement, offered solutions for solving the extensive land use problems in current construction of the rural settlement such as disordering, hollowing and “one household, multiple houses”, improving the “dirty, disordering and poor” phenomemon of village living environment, changing the lagging situation that all sorts of infrastructure and public facilities in the village, meanwhile provided a theoretical basis for the rural settlement planning in the new round of land planning and consolidation.

Abstract: Zhouqu County is not only an impoverished area but also a poor environment region. Frequent occurrence of geological disasters in Zhouqu, which largely determines the quality of ecological environment, affects the regional sustainable development. In this paper, on a case study of Chengguan Town of Zhouqu, two TM images acquired in pre- (2008)and post-disaster(2010) were selected to conduct the research, using remote sensing and GIS spatial analysis techniques. The state of the ecological environment and sustainable development of the region were evaluated by using the ecological footprint methodology. The results show: Firstly, the biocapacity of built-up area and cropland are reduced by 318.50gha and 82.78gha after debris flow disaster respectively, followed by forest land, grazing ground, fishing ground and barren ground, which has played a serious impediment in economic development; Secondly, the ecological deficit reaches to -0.9245gha/per-cap before disaster, however, it reduces to -1.0691gha/per-cap after disaster. This indicates that Chengguan Town is not sustainable development, after sudden disaster, the situation of unsustainable development becomes more serious; Thirdly, it is found that debris flow and landslides are mainly not only in forest land and cropland, also areas containing many people and buildings, which shows geological disasters has played a significant impact on the socio-economic development. Finally, this article provides scientific references for the restoring of ecological environment as well as scientific disaster relief after the debris flow disaster. Therefore, strengthening management and mitigation techniques of disaster is benefit to humans and socio-economic sustainable development.
