Abstract: Superhydrophobic surfaces on aluminum, stainless steel, titanium alloy, and copper substrates were fabricated by nanosecond laser etching and fluoroalkylsilane modification. Compared with the existing laser beam machining technologies, such as femtosecond laser etching and picosecond laser etching, for fabricating superhydrophobic surface, the method developed by us is inexpensive and high efficiency. The influence of laser etching parameters on the surface morphology and wettability on the superhydrophobic surfaces were studied through orthogonal analysis method. The good superhydrophobicity with contact angle larger than 160° was achieved on the aforementioned 4 kinds of metals.

Abstract: A wavelength of 1064nm Nd: YAG laser was used to groove on silicon, then studying the affect of quality and processing efficiency by incoming jet in laser etching course of silicon: Water jet reduced doss, cracks and other defects which might be produced on the surface of groove. Software of matlab was used to restore the topography of tank’s bottom; analysis shown that the water jet had a scouring effect influence on tank’s bottom. Introduction of the water jet caused the loss of the laser energy, but it could improve processing efficiency indirectly by blowing away the slag.

Abstract: The ordinary laser etching on Al2O3 ceramic could bring many problems. Here introduced a new process named low-pressure water jet assisted laser etching on Al2O3 ceramic. The new composite process is much better than ordinary laser etching on Al2O3 ceramic. And the water jet can greatly reduce the thermal cracks and slag which improved the quality of the Al2O3 ceramic surface apparently. It also shows that the parameters of the laser have complex influences on the etching surface quality. Here introduces the method of orthogonal experiment to finish the experiment. Via this method can not only reduce the times of the experiment but also clearly reflect the optimization of the experimental parameters.

Abstract: A new straightforward approach for the rapid prototyping and low cost development of diffraction gratings for remote chemical gas sensing is presented. Sol gel matrices incorporating various salts, as well as specially designed polymers are employed and investigated for sensors' implementation for the detection of chemical agents under a remote point sensing scheme. The interaction between the hybrid materials and the measurands results in a reversible change of their optical characteristics that consequently modifies the gratings diffraction efficiency, resulting in an enhanced sensing ability and a stable operation.

Abstract: An experimental device of KOH solutions jet-assisted laser etching is designed, Laser-chemical combined etching technology is combined with the Medium-jet erosion processing ,and the influence on the etching capacity and cross section quality of material sample of laser processing parameters, jet processing parameters are studied. The results show that the laser processing parameters and jet processing have a decisive impact on the quality of the workpiece, the composite processing technology can remove most of melting slag which are produced by the laser processing, the surface roughness are effectively reduced. The blind holes of the machined materials have the regular shape.
