Abstract: This paper presents a new strategy of analysis and compensation of non-linear error. Non-linear error is an important source of machining error in multi-axis numerical controlled machining and it is unavoidable. In view of tool positions optimization in five-axis CNC machining of complex surface, this paper presents a strategy for non-linear error compensation in five-axis machining: Firstly, non-linear error caused by the change of tool axis vector is analyzed and the non-linear error model is established, in order to get the maximum non-linear error of interpolation segment; Then, the tool position that meets the machining accuracy is obtained; Finally, Simulation and analysis of the model show that the proposed method is effective and greatly improves the geometric accuracy.

Abstract: Postprocess capable of converting the cutter location data to machine control data is an important interface between the NC programming design and manufacture.Due to the fact that current research on multi-axis postprocess methods mostly deals with machine tool configurations whose linear and rotational movements are orthogonal, an efficient postprocess algorithm for the five-axis machine with a tilting head is presented in this paper.DMU 80P which is a five-axis machine with a tilting head is selected as an example.Its mechanism model is proposed in this paper according to the mechanism theory.The kinematics model is established using coordinate transformation,and the solution of this model is discussed.Based on these,a window-based post-processor with multi-choice function was developed by VS2010 language.Through the verification by the commercial solid cutting software VERICUT,the feasibility of the algorithm proposed is demonstrated.At last,a real impeller cutting experiment has been conducted and the result further verifies the correctness of the algorithm.

Abstract: The mechanism model of a spindle-rotating machine is proposed in this paper according to the mechanism theory.The movement model is established using coordinate transformation,and the solving of this model is discussed.Based on these,efficient algorithms for multi-choice and non-linear errors have been presented.A dedicated post-processor with non-linear error compensation function was developed by VS2010 language.A circle frame cutting experiment was conducted and the result showed that the algorithms was correct.

Abstract: According to the feature of five-axis CNC machine tools’structure, do researches on post-process technique. By means of analysis of the kinetic model of five-axis CNC machine tools, Position and orientation of the tool in the workpiece coordinate system transforms to that of the machine coordinate system. Besides, Because of the rotation,Five-axises maching will produce the non-linear error.This article provides an easy algorithm to find the maximum non-linear error. Finally, an impeller, for example, simulates in the computer and machine by a 5-axis machine tool.

Abstract: Because of the rotate kinematics, the machining of 5-axis brings up the non-linear error. The RTCP (Rotation Tool Center Point) function can always make the interpolated point on the programming track by a real-time linear compensation of CNC system for motion of the rotary axes. Based on detailed analysis of the kinematics principle of 5-axis machine with dual rotary tables, a new design of interpolated algorithm integrated with RTCP function is presented which is simulated in MATLAB, and the result indicates that the algorithm can reduce the non-linear error effectively.
