Abstract: Vegetation is regarded as one of the most effective methods to improve the outdoor microclimate and pedestrian thermal comfort. Throughout numerical simulation experiments, the plant communities’ effect on outdoor wind environment and the relationship between them have been studied. The conclusions could be drawn as follows: 1) Ginkgo biloba community, Sophora japonica community and Magnolia denudata community have more obvious attenuation effect of wind velocity. Communities have poorer attenuation effect of wind velocity because of smaller size and crown diameter. 2) The reduction ratio of upstream wind velocity increases accompanying canopy closure, leaf area index, structure and height of dominant species of plant community.

Abstract: The outdoor thermal environment has been worsening in recent years due to urban heat-island phenomenon accompanying fast development of urbanization. Many researches have been conducted into the effects of plants on the outdoor thermal environment by field experiment or numerical simulation. However, the plant communities’ effect on outdoor thermal environment has not established by numerical simulation yet. In this paper, the effect of plant communities on outdoor thermal environment was analyzed by numerical simulation. Moreover, the relationship between plant communities and outdoor thermal environment was also studied. The conclusion could be drawn as follows: 1) Platanus orientalis Community, Sophora japonica Community and Magnolia denudate Community have more obvious cooling effect. The shrub communities had a worse cooling effect and the grass was the worst; 2) there was a trend of decline of cooling effect with the decrease of plant communities ’canopy closure and leaf area index.

Abstract: Abstract. This paper analyzing the tendency of plant community succession and the factors that affecting the plant succession through researching on the plant species, frequency, coverage and multi- frequency in mining wasteland of Baoshan mine. The possibilities of vegetation restoration are investigated in mining wasteland of Baoshan mine.

Abstract: In this paper, 15 kinds of plant communities in greenbelt of 10 major roads in Nanjing were selected as the measuring objects, and we set every 5m to the shoulder as a measuring spot, then measured the noise attenuation on the spots. The result shows the noise attenuation of plant communities have significant differences .And we analyzed the composition of the communities which have a better effectiveness in noise reduction. At last some optimization suggestions were put forward.

Abstract: By the field investigation and laboratory analysis methods, through research the characteristics of SOC, TN in soil of mixed Pine and Quercus, Nepalensis, Bayberry bushes, Pinus Yunnanensis and Abandoned Land in central Yunnan. It resulted that different plant communities took little impact on the soil physical properties, besides the soil moisture was remarkable, the bulk density and soil porosity effect is not prominent. The content of nutrients in different plant communities shows that vegetation abundant soil is more rich than vegetation sparse soils, and in 0~10 ㎝ SOC and TN content is higher than in 10~20 ㎝. Then by the study the C: N ratio in the soil, it showed that relative to the accumulation of TN, different communities in favour of the process SOC accumulation. The C: N ratio as follows: Abandoned land > Pinus Yunnanensis > mixed Pine and Quercus > Bayberry bushes > Nepalensis, so that revealed the ratio of C and N take negative correlation with their decomposition rate.
