Abstract: Well-defined CdS nanorod arrays were pepared via a facile one-step hydrothermal approach and Poly (N-vinyl carbazole) (PVK)/CdS nanocomposites were fabricated by spin-coating chloroform solution of PVK on the surface of CdS film. A variety of techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical absorption and photoluminescence (PL) were employed to investigate the surface morphology and optical properties of PVK/CdS nanocomposites. Photoluminescence efficiency of nanocomposites decreases compared to pure PVK and CdS nanorod arrays due to quenching through high photocharge generation quantum efficiency and high charge transport between inorganic semiconductor and conducting polymer.

Abstract: Polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al structure were prepared by spin coating method on the plasma-treated ITO(indium tin oxide)/glass substrates. PVK(N-vinylcabozole) and PEDOT:PSS [poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfolnate)] polymers were used as hole injection and transport materials. As blue light emitting material, PFO-poss(poly(9,9-dioctylfluorence) polymer was used. The dependence of the plasma treatment of ITO films on the optical and electrical properties of the PLEDs was investigated. The sheet resistance of ITO films increased slightly with increasing the plasma intensity from 20W to 300W in RF power. In contrast, the surface roughness was improved as the plasma intensity increased. The maximum current density and luminance were about 20 mA/cm2 and 250 cd/m2 at 9 V for the PLED sample coated on ITO/glass substrate with plasma treatment of 100W for 30s under 40 mtorr O2 pressure. The maximum emission spectrum of the PLEDs was 441 nm showing blue color.

Abstract: We demonstrated a nonvolatile memory fabricated with the sandwich device structure of Al/Au nano-crystals embedded in the PVK/Al. The bi-stable conduction switching characteristic (Ion/Ioff ratio) was >1x102, depending on Au nano-crystal size. The size and distribution of Au nano-crystals were determined by the inserted Au-layer thickness between PVK layers. The size of Au nano-crystals increased with the inserted Au-layer thickness. The uniform distribution of isolated Au nano-crystals was obtained with 5 nm of the inserted Au-layer thickness.

Abstract: We report the sonochemical synthesis of mercury telluride (HgTe) nanoparticles and the photocurrents of these nanoparticles and their organic hybrid system. The HgTe nanoparticles were about 5 nm in size and their lattice structure was cubic. Poly(N-vinylcarbazole)(PVK) was added to the HgTe nanoparticles for the formation of an inorganic(HgTe)-organic(PVK) hybrid system. The room-temperature photocurrents of the HgTe nanoparticles and the HgTe-PVK hybrid system were compared in this study. The photocurrent was significantly enhanced for the HgTe-PVK hybrid system.
