Plane Trusses Based on EXCEL
Ming Bo Zhao
(School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Southwest University of Science and Technology, MianYang 621010, China)
Key words: EXCEL, plane trusses, Influence Line, VBA
Abstract: The paper presented the application of Excel software in the constructing and plotting of the influence lines in the statically determinate plane trusses.
The research results of this paper have important reference and actual using value to engineering practice, teaching and research work.
Fig. 4 Influence Line for plane truss on pole 8-12 as shown in fig. 2 Fig. 5 Influence Line for plane truss on pole 11-12 as shown in fig. 2 As the largest number of columns is 256 in the Excel sheet, the number of nodes in the plane truss which can be computing is up to 128, which meet the need of most practical engineering problems. 4 Conclusions Constructing and plotting of influence lines in the plane trusses based on Excel with built-in sheet computing functions and VBA functions have obvious advantages including intuitive input and output interface and computing simplify.
The author has developed the computing program based on Excel following the principle 'Influence lines in the plane trusses can be constructed and plotted if you master Excel'. which can construct and plot influence lines in the plane trusses and is of value to engineering practice, teaching and research work.
The program not only can meet the needs of the general engineering practice but also has valuable for teaching and research work.

Abstract.
Combined with the sense of traditional dwellings and modern architecture China's construction master Sicheng Liang once said, "Chinese architecture is both a continuation of an engineering technology for more than two thousand years, itself has resulted in an artistic system, many of the buildings is an expression of our culture and art's heritage."
