Personal data processed and the legal basis for processing

A. Personal data retrieved from your Home Organisation:

  • urn:oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.5923.1.1.1.9 — eduPersonScopedAffiliation (mandatory) * — used for organization-level authorization
  • urn:oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.5923.1.1.1.7 — eduPersonEntitlement (optional) — used for additional entitlements if provided

These attributes are processed in-session only for real-time authorization. No personal data from federation assertions is stored persistently. Once the session ends, no federation-provided personal data remains in the application.

B. Personal data generated as a result of your use of the service:

  • Service access log files (may contain IP addresses and timestamps)

Purpose of the processing of personal data
Personal data is used to:

  • Perform organization-level access control and authorization using scopes from attributes (in-session only)
  • Determine entitlements for accessing specific content (if eduPersonEntitlement is available)
  • Ensure service security and integrity via log files

No user profiles or persistent identifiers are created from federation attributes.

Third parties to whom personal data is disclosed
Personal data is not disclosed to anyone outside of the Scientific.NET supporting services operations team.

How to access, rectify and delete the personal data
Federation attributes are not stored by the service — they are used in-session only and discarded when the session ends. To rectify data released by your Home Organisation, contact your Home Organisation's IT helpdesk. For questions about log files, contact info@scientific.net.

Withdrawal of consent
Federation attributes are processed in-session only and are not stored persistently. You may end your session at any time to stop processing. Where processing is based on consent (optional attributes), you may withdraw consent by contacting info@scientific.net. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Data portability
Federation attributes are not stored persistently by the service (session-only processing). As no personal data from federation assertions is retained, data portability does not apply to federation-provided data. For questions about log files, contact info@scientific.net.

Data retention
Federation attributes from SAML assertions are not stored - they are used in-session only for real-time authorization and discarded when the session ends. Log files containing personal data processed in connection with the federated identity system are retained for a maximum of 12 months.
