The material of the counterface influences the tribological properties of titanium alloys, especially when friction is paired with ceramic materials; however, this issue has been little studied.
Materials and Equipment An alphaned titanium alloy ВТ9 was investigated, the chemical composition of which (%): Ti - 87, Al - 6, Mo - 3, Zr - 2, the rest <2.

Conventional Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is that weld materials are joint at room temperature by stirring softened materials due to frictional heat of rotating tool.
In this case the test was carried out with no defective welded materials.
Fig.8 Comparing the tensile strength in welded materials by FSW with heating at 150 o C and 300 o C, and base materials.
Besides, the strength of non-heating welded material was equivalent to these welded materials.
