Formation of nanostructure states on the surface of materials exposed to concentrated flows of energy is one of the relevant problems of modern materials processing.
Nanostructure states formed on the surface of materials exposed to such flows improve their strength and wear resistance [2, 3].

Micro EDM is unconventional metal removing technique that is effective in machining hard-to-cut conductive materials.
There are many surface treatment techniques that are able to modify surfaces of metallic materials.
In fact its unique approach to machine conductive materials through melting with electrical sparks is useful for machining hard-to-cut materials such as titanium and its alloys [2].

Novel Composite Anode Containing Tin Compounds and Carbonaceous Materials for Li-ion Batteries Ting Fang 1, a, Li-Yin Hsiao 1,b and Jenq-Gong Duh1,c 1 No. 101, Sec. 2, Kuan Fu Rd., Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu 300, Taiwan, China a d927533@oz.nthu.edu.tw, bd927502@oz.nthu.edu.tw, cjgd@mx.nthu.edu.tw Keywords: Sn, mesophase graphite powders, composite anode, capacity retention, cycleability Abstract.
To develop anode materials with higher specific capacity, tin-based compounds have been extensively investigated in the past years.
These novel anodes exhibit superior initial capacity than carbonaceous materials and better capacity retention than metallic tin.
In this study, the electroless plating method will be adopted to prepare the Sn compounds/MGP composite anode materials.
According to the charge profiles, the fading mechanism of lithium in the two composite materials was proposed.

Experimental The raw materials were reagent-grade powders of PbO, Mg(NO3)2, Nb2O5, La2O3 and TiO2.
The scattering of the incident light from the defects in the materials will decrease the sample transmittance.
