Abstract.Cost control is an important measure to improve economic benefit of enterprises, while the theory of value engineering (VE) is the best method to coordinate improving product performance with reducing the cost of production.
The theory of value engineering is innovatively applied to the study of cost control of the marine diesel, the function analysis system technique graphical method (FAST) is used to analyze the function of the marine diesel to screen out 16 key components which are the research elements of Value Engineer.
Many scholars have discussed the application of value engineering in product design, cost control etc.
So we could try to adopt aluminum alloy material to replace present casting structure.
Fourth, cylinder sleeve often adopts ferrous alloy casting material.

For civil engineering specialty in application-oriented institutions, practice teaching is particularly important, which is the key link of cultivating students’ abilities of comprehensively utilizing knowledge, practice and innovation and whose role and function can not be replaced by theory teaching.
Our college takes the construction of off-campus internship training base as one of the key work of the subject construction and founds the practice education committee of civil engineering specialty.
