Penetration Testing of Liquefaction Potential of Ashes due to Seismic Load SLAVIK Ivan1, a * 1Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Geotechnics, Radlinskeho 11, SK-810 05 Bratislava, Slovakia aivan.slavik@stuba.sk Keywords: impoundment, ashes, seismic load, liquefaction, CPT test, factor of safety to liquefaction Abstract.
The method of investigating liquefaction caused by seismic activity was developed based on numerous penetration tests of sandy or silty–sandy soils and was elaborated in detail at the Workshop on Evaluation of Liquefaction Resistance of Soil, NCEER (National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research), Salk Lake City, USA, 1996.
In accordance with their conclusions, the US-based Civil Tech Corporation has elaborated a program for investigation of proneness of soil environment (loaded with seismic activity) to liquefaction using evaluation of field penetration test results.
