The aim of this work, therefore, was to explore the effects of Zn and Mg substitution on the constitution and crystal structure of HA and appropriate substitution degree of these ions in HA, which would provide a novel HA powders to facilitate the antibacterial HA coating on implant and preparation of antibacterial HA ceramic implants, solving the major problems related to osseointegration, minimizing and well distributing the biomechanical forces due to good attaining interfacial fixation.
These substitutions may cause distortion of the apatite structure, resulting in changes in the lattice parameters and crystallinity, morphology, thermal stability, and dissolution properties (solubility).
