Design Method of Fly Ash Concrete Mix Proportion Based on Stable Paste-Aggregate Ratio* Qingwei Sun1, 2, Han Zhu 1 1School of Civil Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China 2Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Liaoning Technical University, Fuxin Liaoning, 123000, China a15386950@qq.com, bqingqing9912@sina.com Keywords: fly ash concrete; mix proportion; optimal paste to aggregate ratio; optimal sand ratio; water-binder ratio Abstract.
The design method of concrete mix proportion put forward in this paper based on the detail raw material in practical engineering in order to avoid deviation in the parameter selection of some subjective judgement when to collect experience form.
aggregate's bulk-density directly and not the traditional method of cement replaced by equal fly ash or by excessive fly ash, then the concrete mix proportion that comply with the design requirements can be obtained by calculation according to the method of absolute volume strictly through the principle and rules of concrete mix proportion. 1.1 Design Principles 1.1.1 Ensure the paste to aggregate ratio keep stable Paste to aggregate ratio is the core factor that affects the performance of concrete mixture before and after concrete harden and determine the concentration of mixture, constructability, strength of elements after hardening, durability and volume stability, so when we design the concrete mix proportion, we should follow the stable paste to aggregate ratio at first to obtain good performances of the mixture before and after hardening. 1.1.2 The design formula based on water-binder ratio be adopted For a long time , the fly ash concrete design specifications[1,2] which engineers
So according to the concept of mix proportion that "the amount of materials of 1 cubic meter concrete ", the fly ash concrete mix proportion should be strictly calculated by exact volume method in practical engineering. 1.2 design steps of fly ash concrete mix proportion based on stable paste to aggregate ratio 1.2.1 Determine trial strength The trial strength can be calculated by formula as , the value of parameter refer to reference [10] 1.2.2 Determine the optimal paste to aggregate ratio According to the research at home and abroad on concrete mix proportion, there should be a " optimal paste to aggregate ratio” to obtain the best workability and strength properties of the concrete.
