Keywords: Metal-to-ceramic joints, Notched ceramic bars, Weibull statistics method,
Novozhilov's brittle fracture criterion, POCO EDM 3 graphite, AS800 Silicon Nitride.
The study of notched ceramic bars with high stress gradients can assist with the prediction of failure of metal ceramic joints.
As the criterion has the virtue of being very simple, and the required parameters can be obtained from relatively simple experiments, it may be easily implemented in engineering practice.
