A large number of crack type line indications were detected by magnetic particle inspections, while the occurrence of partial penetration in roots of welded joints was detected by ultrasonic inspections, as well as lamellar tearing of the base material.
A large number of micro- and macro-cracks were detected in the microstructure as well.
Magnetic particle inspection showed a large number of surface crack type line indications on all welded joints of 4 segments.
Grain size has been determined by microscopic examination of polished cross-section of the sample, employing the method of comparison with standard cards for grain size measurement and in accordance with standard EN ISO 643/2012 [14].
