Experimental Study of the Influence of Impact Mass on Damping Performance of Impact Dampers Yan Zhu 1, a, Shishun Zhu1, b, Wuquan Liu 1,c , Shuntang Hu 1,d 1Automobile Engineering Department, Military Transportation University, Tianjin, 300161, China azylzl@163.com,bzhushishun@yahoo.com.cn, cwqliu@eyou.com, dshuntangh@yahoo.com.cn Keywords: Variable Mass; Impact Damper; Damping Performance; Damping Rate Abstract.
Introduction Vibro-impact damper has been developed and widely used for controlling high-amplitude vibration systems for decades in industry, for example, in chemical process, transportation, civil engineering, regulators etc.
It is very important to study the realistic vibro-impact damping nonlinear theory of engineering practice.

Many scholars devoted to software simulation analysis on studying the adding storey on frame structure [5~7], but it deviated from the real engineering practice because of its lack of reliable experimental data.
Test survey Based on an actual engineering of adding storey with light-weight steel structures on a three-layers of building, three different types of joints were designed and produced, including traditional planted-bar joint (JD-1), the CFRP strengthening one(JD-2) and the encased steel strengthening one(JD-3).
