Experimental study on multi-mode vibration control of a stay cable with a passive magnetorheological damper
Zhihao Wang
School of Civil Engineering and Communication, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Zhengzhou 450011, China
wanghihao916@126.com
Keywords: Stay cable; passive vibration control; magnetorheological damper; modal damping ratio
Abstract.
As an alternative, MR dampers have attracted extensive attention from the community because of their excellent performance in both lab tests and engineering practice.
It is also demonstrated that cable control performance of an optimal tuned passive MR damper can outperform that of a passive viscous damper commonly used in practical engineering.
