The aim of the work was a comprehensive study of the structural, magnetic, and magnetostrictive characteristics of Sm0.5Gd0.5Fe2 and Sm0.5Tb0.5Fe2 compounds and their comparison with similar SmFe2 characteristics obtained by us earlier [17, 18].
In order to equalize the composition of the obtained polycrystalline alloys the homogenizing annealing was performed.

The Mg-Gd-Dy-Zn alloys are the typical magnesium alloys with heat resistance and high strength.
In this paper, an dual phase Mg-Li-Gd-Dy-Zn alloy was prepared through cast and extrusion, aiming to achieve excellent comprehensive mechanical properities.
Compared Fig. 6(a) with (b), the ultimate tensile strength and elongation increase, and it is attributed to the finer Mg3X compounds and the formation of a large amount of finer particles after heat treatment.

Typically these intermetallic alloys are susceptible to hydrogen environment embrittlement.
In this process, water vapor in the air induced cleavage fracture of intermetallic alloys.
Nevertheless, one shortcoming with intermetallic compounds as structural materials is that they are susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement environmental which limits their applications [4,5].
Thus, in this paper, we are interested to know the FeAl2 and FeAl3 intermetallic compounds susceptibility to the reaction with water when it is induced in a ball mill.
Both intermetallic compounds are hard and brittle materials and during high-energy ball-milling, their particle sizes are reduced due to continuous fracturing.

Cryorolling as one of SPD techniques is to roll the metal or alloys at cryogenic temperature.
This paper is aimed to compare the cryorolled Al-Cu-Mg alloy and room temperature rolled alloy.
Fig. 4 shows the BF TEM micrographs and corresponding SAD patterns of peak-aged Al-Cu-Mg alloys aged for 24h.

But its poor corrosion resistance has been cited as a potential problem with its use.Nickel phosphorus (Ni–P) alloys systems are very attractive due to their good corrosion and wear resistance behavior.
In particular nickel phosphorus (Ni–P) alloys systems are very attractive due to their good corrosion and wear resistance behavior which make them suitable for important technological applications.
Hence, the present work is aimed to carry out a few systematic studies on the effect of phosphorus concentrations on the electrochemical preparation and characterization of Ni–P alloy films.

Therefore, the aim of the present study is to identify any influence of Cr and Mn addition in the base AlSi3Mg alloy on corrosion resistance by potenziodynamic tests carried out in saline environment.
Moreover, the dissolution of β-Mg2Si compounds in the eutectic phase increases the Mg content in the Al matrix, thus reducing the corrosion potential of the samples [1].
It can also be observed in Fig. 3 that intermetallic compounds are not preferential corrosion site, since both intermetallics and their interface with the matrix appear not affected by the corrosion process.

In the range of calculated temperature 1000-1600 oC, the three kinds of intermetallic compound phases, α-Nb5Si3, Ti5Si3 and Ti5Si4, have greater ternary solubility, while other binary intermetallic compounds have no ternary solubility nearly.
The calculated results suggested the composition of Nb-Si-Ti alloy should locate in the two phase region of Nbss and Nb5Si3 compounds, which can provide primary theoretical guidance to optimize the compositions of Nb-Si-Ti alloy.

Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine whether Si phase precipitation morphology with increasing silicon content could bring about the same change as that in Al-Si binary alloys and whether the Si phase modification process in the Al-Si alloys could be used for the silicon containing ZA27 alloys.
The Si content in the test Al-Si alloys were 13% - 22% and 4% - 8% in the ZA27 alloys.
This is because Al and P in the liquid alloy forms high melting point AlP compounds, which serves as seed for crystallization.
The first modification process aims to firstly produce an Al-Si binary inter-alloy after modification at 900 °C, and then the Si containing ZA27 alloy is prepared.

Introduction Ni-Ti alloys, belonging to the group of alloys with shape memory, are nowadays particularly important because of their potential, particularly for their usage in cutting-edge fields such as biomedical engineering systems, nanoelectronics, microelectromechanical systems or bio complex and optoelectromechanics.
In the latest years two new processing methods by powder metallurgy called MARFOS (mechanically activated reactive forging synthesis) and MARES (mechanically activated reactive extrusion synthesis) have been successfully applied to produce NiTi alloy bulk and are considered promising techniques for producing intermetallic compounds in bulk [8].
