Hence, the studies the authors have performed showed that as a civil engineer it is important to learn the research and countermeasure actuality on durability of coastal concrete bridges.
Therefore, bridge engineers should know inspection methods and contents on durability of reinforced concrete bridges
Another method named Engineered Cementitious Composites is also used in repairing reinforced concrete bridges.
All of us are optimistic about the future of Engineered Cementitious Composites using and developing in China.

Since the 2004 devastating tsunami occurrence, the government of Malaysia concerns about the safety of civil engineering structures and human lives in Malaysia.
The proposed tsunami force estimation for onshore buildings in northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia will provide a useful guidance for tsunami resilient building design to town planners and engineers.

Damage Assessment of the Z24 bridge by FE Model Updating Anne Teughels , Guido De Roeck Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Department of Civil Engineering Kasteelpark Arenberg 40, B - 3001 Heverlee, Belgium Anne.Teughels@bwk.kuleuven.ac.be Research assistant with National Fund for Scientific Research (FWO - Flanders) Keywords: FE model updating, damage identification, modal parameters, damage functions, civil structures.
Damage to civil engineering structures can be identified with a finite element (FE) model updating method using experimental modal data.
In civil engineering the differences in eigenfrequencies and mode shapes are minimized, mostly identified from ambient vibrations.
Introduction Accurate condition assessment of civil engineering structures has become increasingly important.
In civil engineering, the measurements are often obtained in operational conditions (ambient vibrations), which means that the exciting forces (coming from wind, traffic,...) are unknown.
