Along with high strength and anticorrosion properties CCM have low fracture toughness and favourable friction properties which is associated with presence of porosity and an extensive network of grain boundaries.

Although the loss of the percolation among metallic grains with time and thus the decrease of the TPB cannot be avoided completely, it can be reduced substantially by yielding well-mixed narrow sized particles to control microstructure of the cermets.
