Preface We welcomed you to the 2nd International Conference on Advance Materials Science (ICOAMS) 2019, held in 23-24 October 2019 in Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.

Preface The international conference on advanced design and manufacturing engineering series provides a forum for accessing to the most up-to-date and authoritative knowledge from both industrial and academic worlds, sharing best practice in the field of advanced design and manufacturing engineering.
Following the success of the inaugural conference, the 2nd International Conference on Advanced Design and Manufacturing Engineering (ADME 2012) was taken place in Taiyuan, China, in August, 2012.
This conference successfully brought together scientists and engineers from industry and academia and provided a forum for exchange of ideas, cooperation and future directions by means of keynote speeches, regular presentations and a round-table discussion.

PREFACE NANAOHARD 2009 is the forth forum organized for knowledge dissemination in the field of nanostructured materials, thin films, hard and superhard coatings for advanced applications.
The Second International conference NANOHARD 2009 "Nanostructured Materials, Thin Films and Hard Coatings for Advanced Applications" was organized and hosted by the Central Laboratory of Applied Physics, under the auspices of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The conference was attended by scientists, engineers and specialists coming from Scientific Institutes and Universities (72 %) and Industry (28 %).
The topics of the forums NANOHARD 2005-2007 were focused on technology, characterization and equipment for nanocomposite films, hard and superhard coatings.
Thin films have broad application in the modern engineering as diffusion barriers and metal films for microelectronics, coatings for infrared optics, and films for micro-electromechanical systems.

Preface Increased use of advanced materials in high performance structures such as power systems, electronics, medical devices, aircraft and vehicles, needs improved reliability, resistance to degradation, and failure prediction the life time under a variety of load conditions.
The development of materials with advanced structural properties is a key factor in the industrial and technological progress.
The purpose of the fourth edition ACMA 2012, which took place on 9-12 May 2012 the city of Fez, Morocco, is to provide a forum for engineers, researchers, specialists academics, students, scientists and industry experts, to present their work and discuss the current state of modern technology, experimental techniques, numerical analysis and current developments in the field of advanced materials.
ACMA 2012 includes invited lectures by internationally distinguished researchers in European countries as well as major conferences, presentations and oral contributions in the form of displays covering all aspects of research and technology of advanced materials.
A selection of articles in this special issue congress is dedicated to important topics pertaining to the understanding and determination of the mechanical behaviour of engineering materials under different regimes of loading.
