Preface On the successful basis of GBMCE 2011 and 2012, 2013 the 3rd International Conference on Green Building, Materials and Civil Engineering (GBMCE) will be held in Taiwan during August 21-23, 2013, The conference aims mainly at promoting the development of Green Building, Materials and Civil Engineering, strengthening the international academic cooperation and communications, and exchanging research ideas.
I think GBMCE 2013 will be the most comprehensive Conference focused on the Building, Materials and Civil Engineering.
We believe the proceedings will provide the readers a broad overview of the latest advances in the field of Building, Materials and Civil Engineering.
On behalf of the guest editors for this conference proceeding, we would like to thank the National 863 Program of China, National Science Fund of China.
Thomas Wohlbier, Managing Editor of Journal of Advanced Materials Research, is greatly acknowledged.

Refractive index temperature coefficient of infrared optical materials is much larger than the visible material from the data in Table 1.
When the refractive index of optical materials is changing, light optical path will also change [8].
The materials which we chose are zinc selenide, zinc sulfide and germanium.

The strength response of rings materials under high strain rate deformation was described by using the well-known Johnson–Cook constitutive relationship.
Introduction An electromagnetic expanding ring technique is one of the methods for determining mechanical properties of materials under high-strain-rate loading conditions [1].

Introduction The concept of graded materials was first established by BEVER and DUWEZ [1] for composite materials, and then further developed for polymeric materials [2].
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) are materials that have a gradual variation of material properties from one end to another.
The FGMs were originally developed as a kind of special materials which could sustain long-term exposure to high temperature and large differences of temperature.
