Abstract.
The site and width of longitudinal cracks and circumferential cracks depend on the shape and size of the section excavation, the physical and mechanical properties of their soil(especially the structural characteristics of the loess), the engineering geological condition of the tunnel(especially the cover thickness) and the tunnel construction method. (2) There are visible cracks in the ground of the portal of the loess shallow-buried tunnel the depth of which is usually below 40m.
