To identify the mineralogical phases of the foundry sand, secondary scanning electron microscopy was carried out by X-ray diffraction in the laboratories of the School of Chemical Engineering at the USP Lorena-SP campus.
Therefore, the results obtained in the present study show that the partial replacement of natural sand with WFS for concrete production in civil construction is technically viable and may reduce the environmental impacts of foundry wastes, helping to achieve sustainable development.
Durval Rodrigues Júnior for permission to use the secondary scanning electron microscope (X-ray diffraction) of the School of Chemical Engineering at USP Lorena-SP campus.
