From Beijing Charter which was approved in the 20th World Architect Assembly held in 1999 proposing the establishment of human settlements environment circulation system to improve the quality of environment constantly, to the Beijing Declaration published in 2005 revising Management Regulations of Energy-Saving on Civil Building and promulgating Standards of Energy-Saving Design on Public Building, until Evaluation Standard for Green Building issued by Ministry of Construction in 2006, the connotation and characteristics of green building is shown more and more clearly in Chinese life.
2 The Connotation and Characteristics of Green Building
Green building is also called ecological building, sustainable building, or symbiosis with the environment building.
The timeline considered in the design process covers the whole life cycle of building from preliminary planning, design concept, engineering construction and usage, to the final disposal when it is discarded.
