Introduction One of the greatest challenges in this century, due to the population increase, is the urgency to obtain alternative ecological materials for civil construction, of low energy consumption, capable of maintaining the exigencies of the regulatory norms and reduce the environmental impacts due to the extraction of natural resources.
The agroindustry’s residues have shown to be efficient in the production of components for the civil construction, such as settlement and wall linings, for example.

Performance Studies and Application of Fire-resistant Coatings for Steel Structures Manli Ou 1, a, Weijun Cao 2,b ,and Longmin Jiang 3,c and Hui Cao4,d 1College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University of Technology,Hunan,Zhuzhou ,412008,China 2College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University of Technology, Hunan,Zhuzhou ,412008,China 3College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University of Technology, Hunan,Zhuzhou ,412008,China 4College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University of Technology, Hunan,Zhuzhou ,412008,China a445698185@qq.com, b120996961@qq.com, c527943658@qq.com , d 296992028@qq.com Key words: Steel, High temperature, Fire-resistant coating, Coating thickness, Project examples Abstract: Through the analysis of the development status and application of steel structures in China, the author described the hazards of fire on steel structures and the importance of fire protection for steel structures, introduced the most commonly used fire protection methods for steel structures
This shows that the impact of fire on steel structures is much larger than that on the reinforced concrete structure; fire resistance performance study on steel structure has become an urgent problem needed to be solved in the engineering sector [2].
Steel structure engineering of Changsha South Station is brush painted with fire-retardant coatings of about 150,000 m2, respectively designed with fire protection grade of 1.0 h, 1.5 h, 2.0 h and 3.0 h.
Steel structure fire-retardant coatings have more and more extensive engineering applications, so it is of practical significance to conduct analysis of the steel structure fire-resistance performance, the choice of the types of fire-resistant coatings and fire-resistance coating thickness calculation and studies.
