The II International Materials Symposium followed a series of bi-annual national and international conferences that began 20 years ago and has became, since 2001, an international forum where scientists, engineers and technologists working in the fields of Materials Science and Engineering discuss their recent results and exchange ideas and information.
More than 469 scientists, from 24 countries, attended Materiais 2003, and these proceedings cover a broad range of scientific and technical aspects of Materials Science and Engineering: such as electronic, opto-electronic, spintronic and ferroelectric materials, metals, alloys, composites and inorganic materials, polymers, molecular materials, biomaterials, degradation and biological behaviour of biomaterials, nano- and micro-structured materials, materials for energy storage, power generation and transport and other industrial applications, surfaces, interfaces and membranes, modelling and numerical simulation of materials behaviour, industrial materials and recycling.
The conference provided a forum for the discussion of new developments, recent progress and innovations in chemical engineering and advanced materials, and addressed all aspects of these fields.
