Our previous studies show that adding Sb can obviously improve the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZA84 magnesium alloys.

Compared with the other machining technology, the electrochemical machining technology has many advantages:

Introduction
Usually the optimization of the mechanical properties, to achieve high strength, good toughness and
weldability, is achieved by the production route of Thermomechanical Controlled Processing
followed by accelerated cooling.
Since procedures such as welding and hot bending can involve temperatures up to the austenitization range, and thus affect the mechanical properties, the objective was to correlate the effect of different cooling rates on the microstructure and mechanical properties.
Mechanical properties were also evaluated by microhardness measurements and, at this stage in the study, the tensile strength values were estimated from the hardness Rockwell B hardness measurements.
Among the several factors that can contribute to an increase of strength in HSLA steels grain refinement [2 -5] probably represents the biggest contribution for the steels studied in this work.
