Application of GIS on Rapid evaluation for potential portal areas of tunnels
Iau-Teh Wang1,a
1Department of Civil Engineering, R.O.C.
Location of portals is one of the most important issues for route selection and planning stage of tunnel engineering.
Thus, it is usually a mission of well-experienced engineers and also a time-consuming task.
Therefore, judgments on selection portal locations and its engineering properties have become an important to subjects of tunnel projects.

Abstract.
Introduction According to the basic principle of micro mechanics and fracture mechanics, the engineered cementitious composite (ECC) was invented and developed by Victor C.
It is obvious that the difficulty influences the application and development of the ECC in civil engineering.

Keywords: high strength/performance concrete, structural design, appropriate application fields.
In this paper, the usage of high strength concrete are analyzed, based on this analysis, high strength concrete’s engineering problems existing in Chinese practical application are discussed.
Apart from the building construction, the high strength concrete is also seen in tunnels, bridges and seawalls’ engineering.
The advantages of using high strength/performance concrete are obvious, not only for the decreasing of size and weight of engineering structure, but also for the improving of engineering structural durability, the money it saved.
The Design Method The current structural design theory of civil engineering is based on the traditional materials of elastic properties and plastic properties.
