The SHP-1 slow type of water-reducing agent was used in this study.
In order to investigate the effects of the water-cement ratio on the air-void parameters of hardened concrete, water-cement ratio was designed as 0.60, 0.50, 0.40 and 0.30.
When water-cement ratio increased from 0.30 to 0.50, the air content of hardened concrete experienced little variation; While water-cement ratio went up to 0.60, the air content dropped slightly.
What’s more, the concrete with low water-cement ratio has a compact microstructure, in which there is little water that tends to be frozen, except the hydrate combined water.
