Abstract.
Since the sustainable development has been a theme of contemporary society, architect and engineer should pain more attention to the rammed earth construction.
The factors contributing to raw soil constructions’bleak prospect are that architect rarely focus on the rammed earth buildings and lack of people to participate in construction system.Architect and engineer should pain more attention to raw soil buildings.

Preface
This book presents the selected peer-reviewed full-text papers from the 13th International UNIMAS Engineering Conference 2020 (EnCon 2020), which was successfully organized through an online platform on October 27-28, 2020 by the Faculty of Engineering of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Malaysia, along with various prominent co-organizers; The Institution of Engineers (IEM), Malaysia, Swinburne University of Technology, Malaysia, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, India, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia.
The conference was aimed at providing a platform for researchers, academics, and postgraduate students to present their latest research findings primarily related to problem-solving in technology and management matters in various aspects of civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics, as well as chemical engineering disciplines.
Also, it offered a platform for engineers and professionals from the construction industries to share their experience, and thereby developing and empowering the engineering industry and society through knowledge in engineering, technology, and management.
Chapter 4: Technologies of Environmental Engineering and Bio-Waste Processing contains 3 papers focusing on industrial waste detection and repurposing for further applications.
Last but not least, Chapter 5: Functional Materials includes 2 works devoted to advanced materials in potential engineering development.
