Corrosion of steel reinforcement is one of the major causes of degradation of concrete structures, and, is a widespread degradation of concrete.
This indicates that CaCO3 has reacted with aluminate hydrates and changes the cement chemistry of the blended cement.
Physico- chemistry and thermodynamics involved in the carbonation process of AWTS blended cement should be explored.
