Effect of Corrosion on Mechanical Properties of Reinforcing Bar HPB235 Ying Wang1, Ping Li1, a 1Department of Civil Engineering, Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology, Luoyang 471023, China aeappol@163.com Key Words: Reinforcing Bar, Corrosion behavior, Corrosion rate, Mechanical properties Abstract: The corrosion behavior of reinforcing bar HPB235 in simulated concrete pore solution (3.5 wt.% NaCl solution) was investigated, and the tensile mechanical properties before and after corrosion were tested.
Introduction Reinforcing bar concrete is one of the most common modern building structures, and is widely used in military, industrial, agriculture and civil construction, etc.
Nevertheless, with the passage of time and the change of environment, the corrosion of reinforcing bar occurs at different extent because of the carbonization of concrete and the inrush of chloride, which leads to the weakening of concrete and ceaseless engineering accidents.
