The results show that the use of composites, in particular the bi-metallic composite, is instrumental in tailoring the plate materials to achieve non-penetrating impact.
To design such structure, it will be instructive and convenient to resort to fundamental principles and take into account the progresses in analytical and computational approaches as well as in material science and technologies.
The use of composites, in particular the bi-metallic composite, is investigated for structural tailoring the plate materials.
Since von Mises criterion is independent of the first stress invariant, it is applicable for the analysis of plastic deformation relevant to ductile materials since the onset of yield for these materials does not depend on the hydrostatic component of the stress tensor.
