Mechanics Analysis and Experiments of the Elastic Linkage for a Novel Asymmetrical Pitch System

Article Preview

Abstract:

Concerning to problems of the traditional machine pitch system for miniaturizing Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs), A novel asymmetrical pitch method is discussed in this paper. This novel method makes use of the deformation of an elastic linkage to generate the blade pitch meeting the requirement of the MAV flight mode control. Based on velocity control, phase control and mechanics analysis, Based on strain gauge and mercury conductive slip ring, mechanism experiments of deformation for different ratio of length and thickness and different elastic modulus of the elastic linkage which is key part in asymmetrical pitch system are done. From deformation curves of the elastic linkage, bigger ratio of length and thickness and smaller elastic modulus of the elastic linkage have bigger amplitude of deformation.
