Hardware Circuit Design of Laser Raindrop Spectrometer

Article Preview

Abstract:

Tipping rain gauge is used for rainfall information collection in the most current weather stations. In view of this situation, a new type of rainfall information collection system named the laser raindrop spectrometer is designed by using optical methods combined with ARM9 technology. The system uses a square wave modulation of the laser and processes the received signal through the FPGA and ARM9, and derives rain rate, size, density, rainfall and other information through a unique algorithm. It solves the tipping rain gauge’s situation of "do not turn to win rain, light rain without turning ". Experimental results show that the system is stable and reliable. It not only can be used to measure precipitation, but can identify weather phenomena. So it has a certain practical and promotional value.
