Abstract: Optimal sensor placement (OSP) technique plays a key role in the structural health monitoring (SHM) of large-scale structures. In this paper, an optimal sensor placement (OSP) method based on a new intelligent algorithm, i.e., monkey algorithm (MA) is proposed. Considering the limitation of MA and the characteristics of OSP, the integer encoding to solve the location of the monkeys is proposed. The diversity of the monkeys is increased by introducing the hamming distance in the initial location, in order to improve the capacity of global search, and the random disturbance mechanism of the Harmony search is introduced in the process of climbing to improve the capacity of local search. Finally, taking the Dalian World Trade Building as an example, the OSP schemes are chosen. The numerical example demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: This paper presents a quantitative analysis model of curb parking impacts on traffic flow delay. Whether a road is appropriate setting curb parking is quantitatively analyzed. Based on the variation of traffic delay on a road with curb parking lots, the impacts of curb parking facilities on traffic flow are analyzed. The traffic delay caused by curb parking activities that under both low and high volume conditions are researched. A model respectively using discrete, continuous values of delay as evaluation indicator is built. The validity of the model is tested through application examples.

Abstract: This paper proposes the traffic signal optimization design for the street crosswalk between coordinated adjacent intersections. The design has taken the pedestrian waiting tolerance limit time into consideration as one of the constraint conditions to obtain the pedestrian green phase duration. If the green phase duration is not sufficient for pedestrian crossing safety, the methods of twice crossing street or two chances of crossing can be applied according to different situations. The common red time of two intersections is analyzed to build delay functions by using of motorcade dispersion and traffic flow rate relationship, and timing optimization parameter can be worked out to minimize the total vehicle delay, thus determining signal phase difference. The result shows that this design may ensure the pedestrian safety and reduce the pedestrian delay.

Abstract: In order to solve the contradiction between the supply and demand of traffic system, reduce traffic delay and improve the motor vehicle traffic capacity, the traffic engineering related theory knowledge is used and the existing research results at home and abroad is combined with. The purpose is to design the program: linear control system, based on the systemic analysis of some aspects such as the motor vehicle traffic capacity, traffic delay, signal period and peak hour traffic demand, which takes traffic delay time and capacity as evaluation index, by VISSIM microscopic simulation software, to compare and analyze the condition of traffic signal timing before and after optimization, which verifies that the linear control system effectively improve traffic capacity of the crossing and reduce the delay in the intersection.

Abstract: An extended traffic flow model is proposed by introducing the multiple information of preceding cars. The linear stability condition of the extended model is obtained, which shows that the stability of traffic flow is improved by considering the interaction of preceding cars to the following car. Numerical simulation shows that the traffic jams are suppressed efficiently by taking into account the multiple information of the preceding cars.

Abstract: In the light of tunnel construction, traffic accidents, sudden geological disasters cause of single-line road conditions, designing a single-line road traffic lights wireless signal control device to solve the traffic congestion and the problem of low efficiency of traffic. The device uses wireless transceiver module to sent the signal what was got from the photoelectric sensor to the single-chip microcomputer, single chip microcomputer (SCM) processes switch signals, the last step is to control the traffic light state through the driver circuit. This paper expounds the wireless signal control device trickle structure, working principle, and technical index of the various components, and it puts forward the operation under a feasible solution.

Abstract: This paper presents a systematic GIS-based method to identify and evaluate signalized intersections for purposes of transportation safety planning. The intersections were analyzed and compared based on the crash average hazard index which is the average of five safety measures: total number of crashes, total number of injury and fatal crashes, total crash exposure rate, injury/fatal exposure rate, and weighted hazard index (WHI). The GIS technique along with statistics analysis is utilized to estimate the signalized intersection’s risk distribution in terms of the averaged hazard index. It results in priority ranking of signalized intersections from the most dangerous to the least dangerous hazard levels. The method and results can assist engineers, planners and decision-makers in identifying critical intersections with potential for safety improvement.

Abstract: In view of the heavy workload and the lack of objective measurement and evaluation standards of disrepair rate during the performance testing of road traffic marking, this paper is designed to present a system that can be installed in an automobile and automatically track and analyze the performance of traffic marking. The system consists of a carrying vehicle, GPS, IMU, line-array cameras, frame grabbers, data acquisition software and data analysis software. Based on image enhancement and image segmentation technology, the system is designed with a set of effective road traffic marking automatic detection algorithms, which can automatically measure and analyze the properties of road traffic markings, such as disrepair rate, width, length, longitudinal distance, horizontal distance and so on.

Abstract: By using optimization method, this paper has set up vehicle delay models of signalized intersection which based on vehicle average delay minimum, each phase remain time equal and each phase remain time balance. By using a real intersection’s geometry and traffic flow data, this paper has also set up the phase time with the above models, studied the results and evaluated these models
