Mechanism of Heat Transfer Enhancement due to Tandem Two Cylinders in Unsteady Flow

Article Preview

Abstract:

A two-dimensional numerical computation was carried out for two cylinders in tandem changing unsteady flow regime. Mechanisms of heat transfer enhancement due to tandem two cylinders in unsteady flow were discussed based on the obtained flow and thermal fields. The simulation result shows that the center distance of two cylinders is the main factor of heat transfer enhancement. It also shows that the wake of the upstream cylinder acts periodically the near wall of the downstream cylinder and the tip of vortices plays an important role on the leading edge of the downstream cylinder. Base on the numerical results, it is observed that there locally exists the dissimilarity between the momentum transfer and heat transfer, which was related to the hot or cold fluid.
