A Highly Secure and Cost-Effective CAS Based on STB with GSM Unit

Article Preview

Abstract:

To make up the Control Words (CW) share and deployment cost-ineffective defects in traditional pay-TV services, an advanced security conditional access system and its implementation are introduced in this paper. It is based on STB with a secure GSM module, where iterative key encryption for CW and wireless transmission for identity authentication and entitlement data are used, and it can prevent the piracy of pay-TV and protect the profit of pay-TV operator. The system is proved to be highly secure, easily deployed and cost-effective by experimentation in lab and now in mass production for broadcasters and operators
