The Comparative Study of Grain-Size Parameter Derived from Graphical and Moment Methods

Article Preview

Abstract:

For boosting up the identification and enhancing the utilized effect of the grain-size parameters of sea sediments, the paper analyses the grain-size parameters derived from different methods. First of all, this paper expounds the connotation and sedimentology meaning of the grain-size parameters of sediments, and introduces two basic methods for calculating the grain-size parameter—graphical method and moment method. Aiming at the grain-size analyzing result of some shallow sea area sediments, calculates the grain-size parameter by graphical and moment methods separately, studies the correlation of the grain-size parameter results. At last, this paper analyses the matters of application for the grain-size parameters derived from different methods.
