How the Innovation Resources Developed when a City Became an Innovative City

Abstract:

Making existing cities develop more innovatively is an urgent priority in globalization for city sustainable and healthy development. The built up of innovative city is based on the traditional urban which progressed by its original factors of production, after constantly enriches its innovation resources and enhances its innovation capability, then becomes successful innovative city. The accumulation of innovation resources is the foundation of the innovation ability, so the evaluation analysis on the city’s innovation resources could explain the developmental status of the innovative city on the one hand. This paper first introduced the formation symbols and condition of the innovative city, specifically explained the significance of the innovation resources’ accumulation during the innovative city forming processes. And then took the innovative city evolution of Hong Kong as an example, analyzed the development and change of the innovation resources index in the latest decades by the use of mathematical models, summarized the forming processes of innovative city from innovation resources aspect, and the different characteristics during the forming stages.
