Standard Business Process for Efficiency Improvement in Production Cells
Abstract:
Since the early 1990s, the Toyota Production System (TPS) has been widely accepted in the rest of the industrial world. While there has been no doubt about the effectiveness of lean methods and tools on the shop floor, the introduction of standardized business processes for efficiency improvement represents still a major challenge for most companies. There is a need to develop highly reactive management processes aligning continuous improvement activities with subordinated business objectives. This article describes a pragmatic concept and the process steps as well as discussing results from its practical application. It has been primarily developed for the application in production cells incorporating various process steps, but it could also be applied in different organizational structures.
