Application of Motion Capture Instruments in Modern Sports

Abstract:

Motion capture system is a kind of high technology equipment that is used for measuring accurately the motion condition of moving objects in 3D space. Based on the principle of computer graphics (sensor), it record the motion condition of moving objects (tracker) in the form of image through a few video capture device (sensor) arranged in the space, and then make use of computer to deal with the image data, getting space coordinates (X, Y, Z) of unit of different objects (tracker) on different time.The paper elaborates the concept, classification and characteristics of Motion Capture System, and the roles this system played in sports as well as the typical application in sports projects. It is believed that Motion Capture System will be widely applied in the sports fields in order to give better service to the development of sports in our country.
