Flotation of a Lead Sulphide Ore in Sichuan, China

Article Preview

Abstract:

A lead sulphide ore sample containing 4.64%Pb, 17.38g/t Ag was subjected to this experimental study and taken from a mine in Sichuan province, China. In this study, the effects of different parameters such as optimum mesh of grind, selection of collectors and modifiers, dosages of the reagents, flotation flowsheet were investigated and developed. A lead concentrate assaying 57.77% Pb and 205.6 g/t Ag can be obtained at the recovery of 93.37% and 88.72%, respectively, by applying two roughing, one cleaning and one scavenging operations. The dosages of the reagents in first roughing stage are 500g/t sodium silicate, 150g/t BuX (Butyl xanthate) and 45g/t terpineol, while these in second roughing and scavenging operations are half and quarter of the above.
