A New Value Stream Mapping Technique Based on Material Flow, Information Flow and Knowledge Flow

Abstract:

Compared with the traditional value stream mapping technique which is based on the material flow and information flow, this paper combines the supply chain knowledge flow and the value stream mapping technique to come up with a new value stream mapping model which is based on the material flow, information flow and knowledge flow. Using the new model, this paper analyzes the knowledge flow for the production process of car sets in a company and solves the real problems mainly at the aspect of knowledge flow. Consequently, information barrage is eliminated, line balance is increased by 25.2%, and knowledge flow cycle is shortened by 15.8 days
